Update: The Safe Ground Homeless march was a big success and made strides
toward providing a safe legalized campground for Sacramento Homeless. Visit the Safe Ground page for more information.
Join us for the Safe Ground Homeless March on December 23rd.
1:00pm: Meet at Loaves & Fishes and march to Caesar
Chavez Park (10th and J Sts.)
2:00pm: Press conference at Caesar Chavez Park (10th and J St)
Come to the rally to support those people that live outdoors in this cold weather. We all need somewhere safe and legal to stay. The shelters are full, so for those who are homeless, whether they lost their home when the landlord was foreclosed on or couldn’t afford their mortgage after losing their job, sleeping outside is their only option. Yet, the city of Sacramento continually harasses and criminalizes those who sleep outside even though they have no where else to go. This is cruel and inhumane.
Stand up and speak out for the voiceless. Join us and the Sacramento Homeless Organizing Committee (SHOC) in letting the government know that we won't stand for the harassment of the poor and downtrodden in our community.
Visit the SHOC Safe Ground page for more details.
Cosponsors include: Sacramento Homeless Organizing Committee (SHOC), Francis House, National Coalition for the homeless, CHAM Deliverance Ministry of San Jose, Chicano Consortium, and the Sacramento Area Peace Action.
