Join The Community
Loaves & Fishes has 16 different programs and services across a 4.5 acre campus; it truly takes many hands to make light work. Our volunteers and community of supporters are the basis for what continues to run our survival services impacting 1,000 adults and children experiencing homelessness daily. Through news, media, and communications updates we keep our community apprised of the latest issues concerning the safety and dignity of our guests.
Volunteer
More than 4,000 volunteers from the Sacramento region come to Loaves & Fishes annually to help feed the hungry and distribute essential survival supplies. Because of the amount of hands-on labor needed to prepare, cook, and serve over 500 meals for lunch, most of the volunteers work in the Dining Room. Other opportunities include development support, assisting direct service and daytime respite programs such as Mustard Seed Emergency School, Maryhouse program for women and families, or helping at the service desk in Friendship Park. Volunteer sign-ups can be for a day, week, or multiple times a year.
